Girl Up Youth Leader Reem (@reemzidiah ) is a Palestinian activist who had hopes for a bright future and dreamt of becoming a human rights worker someday. But since October 2023, she and her family lost their home and they have been displaced twice to finally end up in South Gaza, near the border of Egypt, with over one million other refugees. It is easy to take basic necessities, like water, food, and electricity, for granted until your world is turned upside down. Reem collaborated with Moroccan activist and @Politics4her founder Yasmina (@yasbens ) who is based in Puerto Rico. Together, they created a video to contrast Reem’s reality while living in South Gaza to Yasmina’s relative ease in meeting daily basic needs, like accessing potable water, doing the dishes, etc. Both Reem and Yasmina are young women advocating for global human rights and #GenderJustice , yet their daily existence couldn’t be more different in this moment. We stand with feminist organizations across the world calling for an immediate ceasefire, release of all hostages, and unfettered access to humanitarian aid.
