We're thrilled to share Izabel's inspiring journey. Recently released from incarceration, Izabel found support through our Goodwill NYNJ's PAL (Peer Advocacy Leadership) program, securing housing and enrolling at LaGuardia Community College to study Healthcare Business Administration. With our assistance, she qualified for her apartment at Green Hope for Women, demonstrating resilience and determination.
We are excited to announce the opening of our new Day & Employment Services facility in Astoria, Queens. This facility will provide vital services, including job training, on-the-job coaching, and recreational activities for individuals with disabilities to relax and socialize. Goodwill NYNJ has a long history of supporting individuals with disabilities, and in 2023 alone, helped over 5,200 people achieve their career goals. "Goodwill NYNJ has maintained a physical presence in Astoria for over 50 years to provide employment supports and enhance the lives of local and NYC residents," said Katy Gaul-Stigge, President and CEO.
Our team members Celina Cavaluzzi, Jason Ramirez, and Josephine Quaye met with a contingent from Malta to discuss employment services for individuals on the autism spectrum. We presented GoodwillNYNJ's program model of customized employment with members Malta's Commission for the Rights of Persons with Disability, Agenzija Sapport, and the Autism Advisory Council of Malta, and learned about their employment initiatives for people with disabilities. The meeting took place at the Permanent Mission of Malta to the United Nations. It was an inspiring exchange!
Meet Isnard Laurent from East Elmhurst, Queens! Despite facing significant challenges with his mental health, Isnard has shown incredible resilience and determination after coming to Goodwill 13 years ago. With continuous help from the Goodwill team to manage his mental health, employment support and training, Isnard has successfully secured his first job in nearly 10 years. He is working full-time at LaGuardia Airport with OTG Management where he loves working as dishwasher and connecting with his colleagues. Isnard's journey is a testament to his strength and dedication, and we couldn't be prouder of his achievements.

Members of Goodwill's Citiview Clubhouse had a great time visiting @morgan.stanley today. Volunteers from Morgan Stanley met one-on-one with members of the Citiview Clubhouse to review resumes and practice interview skills. Volunteers also learned about how the Citiview Clubhouse provides a safe space and supportive environment for folks living with mental illness to reach their goals and maintain wellness.
