This is my absolute favorite time of year. Every morning I walk into @greenthumborganicfarm , something new has just come out of the ground and into the farmstand! First of the season beets and carrots this week :) Carrot salad, grilled carrots and beets, carrot-pistachio romesco, all the herbs: mint, cilantro, basil, bronze fennel.
This also happens to be an unintentionally plant-based dish that isn’t loaded with a lot of fake garbage and additives to masquerade as a meat product! It doesn’t matter what “diet” you choose- vegan, carnivore, pescatarian, omnivore, keto, paleo….just make sure you’re eating real ingredients, preferably grown by people you know!

Our Spring CSA begins April 27th and runs for 6 weeks! Each week members will be given a variety of spring produce such as lettuce, radishes, spinach, beets, and asparagus. Earlier this week our family’s matriarch, Madeline “Peachie” Patton Halsey passed peacefully at home. Born in Riverhead, she moved to Water Mill when she married her husband, Ray Halsey. With 4 young children, they opened the farm stand in 1962 where she successfully ran the business while also raising her family. In the off season, Peachie and Ray loved to travel all over the world and enjoy some downtime. Peachie was a familiar face in our farm stand for decades. Even in her final years she enjoyed stopping over to check up on things. She was a generous, strong, and hard working role model to many.

Services for Peachie will be held on Sunday, March 3rd at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton 4-7pm and
Monday, March 4th at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton at 10:30am. Private burial to follow.
