🌟 Thank You, @duolingo ! 🌟 We extend our gratitude to Duolingo for their generous donation of 32 MAC laptops to Gwen's Girls! These laptops will empower our high school-aged youth to dive into CAD, 3-D printing, STEM activities, and job readiness training. Your support helps us uphold our founder Gwen Elliott's vision, providing essential resources and life-enriching opportunities to young women in Allegheny County and Pittsburgh. Together, we're paving the way for academic success, after-school and summer programs, young adult initiatives, and so much more. Your dedication makes a real difference in the lives of the young women we serve. Thank you for being a valued member of the Gwen's Girls family! #GwensGirls #Duolingo #CommunitySupport #STEMEducation #Gratitude #EmpowerWomen

We are excited to invite you to our upcoming webinar, "Ballroom Culture and LGBTQ+ Youth," on June 26th from 2-3 pm ET. In this webinar, advocates, systems leaders, parents and community members will learn how house and ballroom culture provides a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth to thrive. Created in 1970 by Crystal LaBeija, houses (chosen families) and balls (competitions) were created to celebrate queer identities despite rampant discrimination. Houses continue to serve this purpose, especially for queer and trans youth, with ballroom culture recently being featured in FX's Pose and HBO's Legendary. Join us to hear from staff at True T PGH to get all the tea on how you can better serve our LGBTQ+ young people. Did you know that at Gwen’s Girls, mental health services are a vital, integral part of our programming? Therefore, we developed Clinical Services to provide a mental health component and offer counseling and therapy to individuals, families and groups. All of our services are designed to help our girls increase their awareness of the skills needed to build healthy, positive relationships, social skills and life skills. Our services include anger management and mood management groups. These groups are very important for the population of girls we serve, as they are at risk for abuse (physical, mental and/or sexual), neglect, parent/child conflict and involvement in the juvenile justice system. Gwen’s Girls stays current with research and the development of clinical interventions involving girls and young women. We are committed to incorporating them into our organization. Have you had your Mirror Moment? Practice this exercise: Check in with your mirror🪞-self once a month and share some words of encouragement with her. If you looked on the mirror today, what would you say to her? Compliment yourself Give yourself grace Remind yourself that you’re human and sometimes we go through storms Then encourage yourself to KEEP PUSHING! End it with: “YOU GOT THIS!” 😉 Thanks for the reminder, Issa! 💜💜💜
