WOW!!! What an absolute pleasure it was having @haircutharry visit our barbershop in Uptown Whittier. He has traveled the world and has gotten a haircut by the very best of ‘em and I’m proud to have had him in my chair. When I was in barber school years ago I remember being obsessed with a handful of his videos @theniteowlbarbershop 🇨🇦, @sweeneytodds_barbershop 🇺🇸 & @figarosbarbershoplisboa 🇵🇹 replaying them over and over trying to study their techniques. It was real eye opening for a new barber in the trade. Funny how life comes full circle sometimes and now you can watch me give him a Haircut & Shave. Although I do this for a living, I’m not ashamed to say my nerves did get the best of me that day. Still beyond stoked to be apart of this and represent our barbershop @tiptopuptown @tiptopbarbershop . I will have the link in my bio so check it out!! Thank you for the opportunity. - Your homie, Del the barber

Out now on YouTube! 🙌🏼 Thanks so much to everyone who has already watched, commented on, and shared this video - we appreciate it❣️ This video is something experimental we filmed earlier this year during our time in Minnesota. The handcraftsmanship of a Marvy Barber Pole being assembled in their Saint Paul workspace where they have been based since 1961. Inside, the warehouse space has barely changed since the day they first set up their workbenches! Established in 1936, by William Marvy in his parents’ basement, the William Marvy Company in Saint Paul, Minnesota is a family-owned and operated business that produces the iconic Marvy Barber Pole, Mar-V-Cide Disinfectant, and Sanitizing Jars. The William Marvy Company began making barber poles in 1950. They are now the only manufacturers of commercial barber poles left in North America. Over the years they have made 90,000+ barber poles, and a book catalogs each barber pole’s serial number along with its new owner ✍🏼 The manufacturing process hasn’t changed much over time when we filmed a feature of master craftsman Scott Gohr sharing visually (no talking) how he helps keep this tradition alive. ✨ Huge thank you to @williammarvyco and Scott Gohr for having us over and allowing us to film 🙏🏼 Special thanks to @run_stp for all your help behind the scenes! Check out the full video on YouTube and relax to the sounds of a craftsman assembling an iconic American-made Marvy Barber Pole! 💈 /haircutharry

Yes, we made it to @yamaguchi_barber in Hayama, Japan! 🙌🏼 Thanks to all who recommended this barbershop to us 💈 Originally opened in 1920, this 4th generation barbershop is a tapestry of history, culture, and family legacy ✨ Stepping into a scene from a bygone era: the Showa period, with its natural stained wood and vintage treasures like a classic clock and a vinyl collection that echoes through the ages 🕰️🎶 Meet Masao Yamaguchi, the 77-year-old 3rd generation barber with a passion for motorcycles, fishing, and jazz 🎶 His hands have been crafting hairstyles since he was 17, a testament to a lifetime dedicated to the art of barbering. His son, Taro, continues this proud legacy, interweaving the past with the future. @yamaguchi_barber also has a YouTube channel where we filmed a couple of videos with Taro-san! Make sure to check it out to see more of their work! We heard Masao-san enjoys watching his own videos ❤️😊 Thank you so much Masao-san, @yama_gutitaro & @takaaki_sakurai_ for all of your warm hospitality and for showing us a little bit of Kamakura 🙏🏼❤️ Stay tuned for a new haircut video with Masao-san coming to YouTube on Monday, November 20th! 🛎️

Thank you so much to @81plus1 in Tokyo for having me over for a Japanese Head Spa 🙏🏼❤️ It was a pleasure to meet and film with Ms. Miyuki @81plus1_headspa who has 15 years of experience as a massage therapist.  She trained in Tokyo where she learned about shiatsu, reflexology, aromatherapy oil massage, head massage, body structure, muscles, lymph nodes, and pressure points. ✨ Ms. Miyuki  says, “I think feeling secure equals happiness.  If I can make the person in front of me feel relaxed and gentle (calm), that is very peaceful and lovely, and I feel that becomes my happiness.” No detail goes unnoticed for a calm and relaxing experience!  Along with being covered with a blanket, small scented and warm beanbags are placed around you to keep you warm and relaxed. Also, the scents in the rooms change with the season and weather 🍁🌸🌷 Often they are wood-based scents such as Horwood, cypress, frankincense & rosemary. 81+1 has been open for four years and is the vision of founder Daichi Ishihara.  A native of Japan but based in New York where he has 2 salons @madison25ny and @hazukihairbrooklyn , Daichi wanted to take home a little of his NYC style. We FINALLY made it to @barber88.shop 🙌🏼💈❤️ Over the years, filming with Dora @wolfshead88 has been one of our most highly requested collaborations!!! If you aren’t familiar with Dora, his name is actually Yoshio Fujibayashi and he grew up in Iga city, a famous ninja town (a couple hours away from Kyoto). Dora has been barbering for 29 years and established his shop, Barber 88, 25 years ago. Inside Dora’s barbershop a cozy waiting area greets you, with shelves full of books, vintage cameras, and a typewriter…📚 You'll also notice the books with Kurt Cobain on the cover. Dora made his barbershop “in the fashion of rock music.”🎸 He says, “I wanted to create a shop similar to a train station; I want people to get the feeling of stopping in a bookstore through a train station stop.” What he wants is, “people to get the experience of taking a stop on their journey, they come in and relax, get a haircut and feel refreshed for their next stop of their journey.” Dora is a fan of 90s grunge music which he says, “is a symbolism of my youth, especially the transition from a child to becoming an adult.”  During junior high, he listened to a lot of British punk rock. Then in high school Dora recalls, “I loved listening to 90s rock bands, like Nirvana, and I got into that kind of subculture. He was “infatuated with the atmosphere of that kind of music.” He adds, “Even though I couldn’t understand the music, I understand the feelings coming from that music and it inspired the rebellious nature in myself.” Dora has the following life advice: “To appreciate being alive, because life is a rare and precious thing. People shouldn’t think that life is a guaranteed thing, because any day, even tomorrow, your life could end.” If you are ever in Japan, Dora invites you to his barbershop! “I can’t speak English,” he says, “but I will make it worthwhile and make it a good experience for you and myself.”💈❤️ Thank you so much @wolfshead88 for having us over 🙏🏼❤️ It was so fun to meet you! Stay tuned - the haircut video is coming to YouTube very soon! 🛎️

Hello - how are you doing? We have an experimental video to share with you today :) Over the years, we’ve received messages and comments from people who told us they play our videos in the background to study and while working. So our idea was to film a relaxing getting ready for a busy work day type of video with Patrick @elizabeths_barbershop_stp We feel Patrick’s shop has the perfect ambience for a video such as this. Kind of like the coffeeshop or library atmosphere videos ☕️📚 Huge THANK YOU to @run_stp for giving us the opportunity to experiment with this idea! ❤️❤️❤️
