The @shinnyolanternfloatinghawaii has been held on Memorial Day for over 20 years, and we've attended most of them. It was so meaningful for our family, and @mrshawaii in particular, and to place her name on our lantern now is bittersweet. Our family name list also grows each year. We're additionally honored to include the names of loved ones our friends have lost. It may seem a spectacle, it's hot and crowded... but there always comes a moment or two of mass catharsis, of shared mourning, of celebrating love. The scene at sunset is beautiful, but it's what aligns and resonates in the hearts of those present (in person and undoubtedly afar) that's deeply moving.

Hawai’i Women in Tech had an amazing breakout session at ThriveHI’s Tech Community Night, where 29 women and 10 men joined us to learn about our initiative to empower and connect local women in tech and our recent sponsorship from @glue_up Sharing the evening with Hawai’i Tech Mentors and hearing the benefits from Cohort 1 was truly inspiring. The atmosphere was electric as we came together to share the progress and potential of growing our grassroots network. We left feeling more connected and empowered, ready to continue our mission of supporting women in tech. Thank you to everyone who joined us—you made the night unforgettable.
