I took this photo the night before my birthday to send to my mom in case she forgot about me. Now I’m posting it to Instagram in case you guys forgot about me. It’s strange to take a photo specifically for one person and then decide to share it on the grid. It changes its meaning. Sort of like when you go to the Louvre or wherever and you see a family portrait that was painted for the study or the dining room and it’s now seen by the whole world. Intention is important to the story. It’s cute to think of everyone’s social media page as their own tiny digital museum, maybe that’s a good way to think of this cursed online hellscape. You know what they say, you are what you consume- food, opinions, memes, and in my case last night, twenty-five tiktoks about a feud between two women who are in love with the same prisoner. They drag each other and say truly dehumanizing things to one another, all over a man whose rap sheet includes battery against women among other violent charges. They call it prison wife tiktok and It’s truly none of my business. Reminds me of when I used to secretly watch Jerry Springer when I was home sick and my mom was out. It’s a voyeuristic pleasure. Anyway I hope you are protecting your soul at any cost every single day.

Today after clown class I saw a woman reading a book while walking up the steep and sidewalk-less Chaney Trail. I told her that she’s very talented and she said, “well, I’ve been doing it since I was a little girl. Ever since I could read” and she didn’t even look up at me. Her tone felt like it was a stupid thing for me to say. Like that I’m actually a dumbass for being shocked she’s good at it. I like when senior citizens don’t coddle me. Then I went down to the Equestrian Park and saw Ernesto and Raphael and they let me ride Rosie again. Ernesto and I talked about the difference between human/human relationships and human/animal relationships. Also, we hugged. Opey isn’t that afraid of horses anymore.
