Bright & funky beers have been a huge inspiration for Howlin Wind. We have produced loads of Saisons, and now we are excited to finally release an American Farmhouse. Flaked grains and a touch of corn establish a rustic underbelly with just the right hint of sweetness. We finished this beer off with a healthy dose of lemon zest to brighten the bev. We’re calling this one Holly Golly Dagnabbit. Also! A new tasting room hostess has joined our team! We rescued Cassidy yesterday from Ft Collins thanks to @untiltheyrehome , and she is adjusting to life in the mountains swimmingly. Time is certainly a luxury item in this day and age, and in the world of fermentation there may be no more important ingredient than time. It is the one ingredient, and thing in life, that we simply cannot get more of. It has a way of moving in a non linear way, the moments that we want to savor have a way of slowing time down, yet looking back on things it seems as though they move by in an instant. As we make another lap around the sun, we look back on the time here and have moments that seem to last forever, but a year that has flown by at an astonishing pace. Reaching our third anniversary celebration has come incredibly fast, it would not have been possible without the team that has given so much to make this place what it is today. Most importantly there really is no point in creating this sort of establishment if there is no community. It has been the community as a whole that inspires us to continue to grow and build across time. Folks who have lived here for decades, some simply on vacation, and others playing music, we have all had moments together that seem like eternity, and those are the intangibles that cannot be taken away. We want to celebrate community by showcasing a few beers that have taken us a significant amount of time and patience in creating. We will be pulling beers from barrels, lager tanks, and foeders to share the labors of our love with everyone who makes this place a reality for a night that may give us a moment to pause time together and celebrate you all. Spring time is here, which sometimes means snow showers on 60 degree days. We get to slowly defrost from the long arduous winter as we gear up for the inevitable influx of folks from all over the world. It is our favorite time to smell the unfurling flowers and "Celebrate a Simple Life" Celebrate a Simple Life is our Belgian Style Wheat beer, brewed with a deft touch of orange peel and coriander. Wheat is the star of the show. Our favorite European wheat provides a full, yet drying mouthfeel. Belgian yeast provides a bright citrus aroma that makes for a very cohesive beer. Watching this place slowly come back to life, with an ever growing momentum has been amazing to be a part of. With time things can shift from a bit of a ghost town to a space with a huge amount of community. Taking a bit of a gamble has really turned Doubters to Believers. This is one of our favorite styles. We keep it closely guarded due to the time it takes to create these beers. Doubters to Believers is our Dry Hopped Brett Saison. This is the quintessential farmhouse beer with a new world twist, rustic grains, wild yeast, and Idaho 7 hops. Brettanomyces is an incredibly expressive yeast, creating a notable earthy funk, along with an over ripe pineapple aroma. This yeast takes six months to express itself, however given the amount of time it needs the resulting beer is complex, dry, fruity and refreshing. These beers were historically made for folks working in fields for hydration.
