Every summer since 1983, mermaid-obsessives from New York and around the world have flocked to the Coney Island boardwalk for a 200,000+ person-strong parade. This year, grown ups and kids dressed as merfolk, sharks and sailors – among other aquatic sealife – all came together to stage a Mardi Gras-level display.
Over the years, the shapeshifting nature of merfolk has been embraced as a symbol for LGBT+ folk and particularly the trans community. As one person in the parade told photographer @juliandufour : “There’s beauty in the absolute queerness that gets expressed today”.

This year’s SS24 campaign, titled “DO or DIE”, features members of the rockabilly group @strangersharajuku_official who have been dancing the twist in Harajuku since the 1980s.
Their dedication to leather, denim and the rockabilly spirit is what has fuelled LỰU ĐẠN this season. i-D tagged along to capture this celebration of the iconic Harajuku subculture.

@petercopping is announced the new Artistic Director of @lanvin !
From September, Peter Copping will be heading up the iconic heritage House, designing menswear and womenswear, as well as leather goods and accessories. The Central Saint Martins and Royal College of Art alumni cut his teeth at Sonia Rykiel and worked closely with Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton developing the brand’s womenswear line, before moving to Nina Ricci as Creative Director. After his Creative Directorship at Oscar de la Renta he was instrumental in reintroducing couture and overseeing its production at Balenciaga.
The pioneering approach to couture seen at Balenciaga since 2021, uniting heritage craftsmanship and new technological approaches to construction, has reinvigorated the couture calendar. We’re excited for his next chapter at Lanvin! Are you?

Following its iconic New York line-up at the top of 2024, poet-musician @mustafathepoet Artists for Aid fundraiser is coming to London. The event, set to take place at Troxy on 4 July, is being staged in association with War Child, and will raise money for humanitarian efforts in Palestine and Sudan.
He’s bringing a stacked line-up with him, with artists like @edgar_the_breathtaker , Blood Orange, @clairo , @earlsweatshirts , @ramy and @yasiinbey all set to perform.
