On Saturday 29th June @bigjoanieband came to the @thepipercalls to play the @loudwomen Minifesto. What a day! They visited the Poly Styrene blue plaque, saw a seal and rescued a dog, all before performing in the evening. I reckon that makes them locals now. All bands stepped up to the mark and blew away the audience so thanks to @thepipercalls for having us, @gavin_gob for ace sound throughout the day and thanks to @barbicanestateband @eli.ldn @everydaysaintss @florescentband @leibnizband @staceycohenmusic Check them all out on Bandcamp, Spotify etc etc and follow them on socials. They deserve your love. As ever DIY bands showing just how good they are and proving the value of grass roots venues like The Piper. Big love to everyone. Soooo good to catch @frau13in at the launch of their epic new EP ‘Sink or Swim’. The night was small but perfectly formed. Full of friendly faces. Even @estellaadeyeri was there working it despite being a superstar. Looking forward to seeing her and @bigjoanieband when they play with @thebreeders next week. Not to mention the @loudwomen Minifesto that’s coming up at @thepipercalls Sat 29! Too much excitement! But for now, HUGE congratulations to Fraulein on a superb EP. Enjoy the glow. x

Today is the day! We play @destroyallhastings at 7pm on the bar stage amidst a riot of a line up spanning all kinds of music. For a little pre-riot quiet we headed up to Hastings Country park. A meditative reminder of the richness nature gives us all for free to contrast with the stark reasons @seaview.project and @trusselltrust exist o help those made un-rich In terms of that manmade framework money! So gutted to learn that Steve Albini has just died. He was a genuinely good person, helpful to musicians and also very funny. My band Rosa Mota were lucky enough to work with him (and @therealclaregrogan ) in the 90s (thanks @muterecords ) . I last saw him in 2019 on his tour with Shellac. I was too late to get enough tickets to take my pals from @yiayiastudio along (I’d introduced him to their recording studio the previous year) so he put their names on the door. His band, Shellac, were smart enough to choose a woman 30 years younger than them as their sound engineer. #loudwomen He will be greatly missed by many that’s for sure.💔
