I started my 'ori journey 3 years ago virtually  with @dancewithleolani and @ori_withrina . I finally met my ra'atiras in person this month!! I never thought I would be able to  join a competition with @teahonui without moving to LA! I couldn't say yes quick enough to join the team in competing in San Jose Tahiti Fete 23!! I met so many amazing dancers , whom I've been looking at in the little boxes on Zoom for the past couple of years. It was surreal going from dancing in a bedroom alone to dancing with all my 'ori sisters to live music! I attended my first in-person 'ori tahiti workshop this weekend!! I started learning 'ori online 2 years ago, so it was a surreal experience to finally dance with other people! It was so cool to meet so many amazing dancers and to practice with live drumming!! After two months of not being able to dance, I was soo excited to train again last session! On Saturday, I did my 1st live improv drum solo and it was so much fun!! I kept looking at my computer to see if I could get David's virtual cues to signal rhythm changes😂😂!!! This 10 part Rhythm and Movement series has been soo helpful in getting to know the basic rhythms and their personalities!! Thank you @sadiebellydance and @davidhinojosamusic for hosting this challenge on @raqs_online !
