As 2021 dawned, Isabelle Beernaert discovered a surprising new chapter in her family history that turned her origins in a new light. It turned out that she has ‘Iberian’ (Spanish and Portuguese) and North African blood running through her veins, making her DNA a rich mix of different cultures and heritages next to her French and Belgian roots. This discovery shed a whole new light on her ancestral heritage, especially on her mother’s side. It also explained why she had always felt a deep and inexplicable bond with a diversity of ethnical cultures throughout her life. She has embraced this revelation and includes it in her new creation, ‘LA DAME EN NOIR’. - ‘ The Dark Mother ‘ Her grandmother’s secret. It is an ode to the mysteries of family histories and cultural connections, and a celebration of the beautiful diversity of human identity that returns all the way back to our tribal origins. A characterful, powerful total spectacle with live percussion ‘the heartbeat of the earth’ Dance, spoken word, live drums, visuals and a scenographic design merge into a resonating experience, that will take you in a deep mystical journey back to our essential roots and nature. Isabelle Beernaert has noted that in all her creations since the beginning of her dance career, a mysterious female archetypal character appears on the scene, dressed in black. This made her realize that there was always a presence of something essential that she is exploring more deeply ‘The Dark Mother’. The ancient form of the Dark Mother is currently making her return to our consciousness worldwide. With this she heralds the end of an era, which at the same time symbolizes a new beginning. It is a period of spiritual evolution in which people become more aware of the energetic connection with Mother Earth. The Dark Mother represents the deep, dark womb of cosmic beginnings, where Dark and Light merge in harmony, both on a collective and individual level. Our first 6 dates starts in Belgium.
