Which is something that Gadget of Art & Vintage, a LGBTQ2S+ owned small business from Toronto ON, is all about. It’s their thing, and they are so excited to share it with you and our community! Hello, everyone! I’m Aras @jann_van_eyck and I love collecting unique vintage home decor items, jewelleries, pins and more! My collection is mostly based on reflecting my knowledge of art history which I have master’s degree in Contemporary Art. As an art historian, I am curious to know the history behind the things and sharing it with our lovely customers at the markets. So far from the beginning of last spring, we’ve done 10 markets and more to go! Molly Farquharson ile 2013’te İstanbul Galata’da sahibi olduğu Molly’s Cafe’de tanışmıştım. O zamanki hayat telaşesi içinde Molly’s Cafe’ye yalnızca birkaç kez gidebilmiştim ama İstanbul gibi birçok bakımdan zor bir şehirde işletmeciliğe soyunan bu Kanadalı kadın ve şirin mekanı aklıma kazınmış ve daha sonra Şişli Kurtuluş’ta işlettiğim Sahne Kahve için de en büyük ilham kaynağım olmuştu. Molly 2014’te kafeyi kapatıp Türkiye’den ayrıldı ve ondan sonra da kendisiyle herhangi bir iletişimim olmadı. Kuzey Amerika çok uzak, oralarda yaşamak (ve hatta oraları ziyaret etmek) fikri de bana çok uzaktı. Nitekim Kanada’ya taşınmamızın 5. yılına yaklaşırken dün arkadaşlarla bir tatil dönüşü Toronto yolunda mola verdiğimiz küçük kasaba Orillia’da rastgele dükkanlara girip çıkıyorduk. Bir sanat galerisi dikkatimizi çekti ve içeri daldık. Bizi “Bugün nasılsınız?” diye karşılayan galeri sahibi kadın bir yerlerden tanıdık geliyordu ama bunun üzerine düşünmeyip duvardaki sanat çalışmalarına ve yazılara baktım. “Turkish Style” ve “Molly Farquharson” yazdığını görünce (bkz: 2. foto), galeri sahibine dönüp “Molly siz misiniz?” diye sordum. Toplamda 10-15 saniye süren idrak etme süreci sonunda anladım ki İstanbul Galata’daki Molly’s Cafe’nin Molly’si tam karşımdaydı. Sarıldık. 🫂 Dünya cidden çok mu küçük bilemiyorum ama Molly’nin bu tesadüfi buluşmadan sadece birkaç saat önce kendi sosyal medya hesabından Molly’s Cafe fotoğraflarını paylaşıp eskiyi yad ettiğini öğrenince bir şekilde beni/bizi oraya çektiğine inanmamak elde değil. Molly bizi görünce 15 yıl yaşadığı kendi İstanbul’unu ne kadar özlediğini hatırladı, bense geride bıraktığım kendi İstanbul’umu… Yanımda pek sevdiğim insanlarla, kendi Kanada’mda… 🙂🫶🏼 @hibernationartsorillia
