*watch on Facebook For the past year or so we've been working with @wehearyouasl to help beta test their PUSH automatic accessible door opener. This allows a user to open an automatic door without having to use the mounted button that may not be accessible to them for many reasons. It also allows the user to keep the door open as it may take them longer to enter than the doors are timed to stay open. Recently one of the co-founders was awarded a grant from @jedfoundation and @vspink for a new tool called The Hero Door. We are so very excited for this next wave of accessible tech being created right here in Central Illinois. The new app that is launching will allow those with less dexterity to use PUSH with their voice or a quick tap, and The Hero Door Opener could change the way people access their homes or other internal doors. We are grateful to be a partner with them and to Thomas Garverick - @wmbdnews for covering and sharing their success. If you have an automatic door that needs a push button to open, please consider installing the push system so anyone with the remote can open it more independently. #repost

Grateful to attend the JED Gala in NYC, celebrating 25 years of impactful work by The JED Foundation, founded after the tragic loss of Jed Satow to suicide. This incredible organization, started by his parents, Phil and Donna Satow, is dedicated to preventing suicide and protecting the emotional health of teens and young adults. It’s a powerful reminder about the importance of focused mental health work — and the focus on suicide specifically is so so impotent. This becomes even more crucial in communities that need it the most, such as Black, Latinx, and Middle Eastern/Arab/Palestinian right now. This work truly takes all of us—our small actions can literally save lives. Hi my name is Jordan 💜✨. I am the founder of @badgurlgoodies and Saturday, June 15th, on my 26th birthday, I lost my young, vibrant father who passed away after struggling in the ICU with multi-organ failure, his body deteriorating for 72 hours after he brutally hung himself from the rafters in the sun room that he built, to escape his abusive, destructive relationship. My father, a hardworking, successful business man worked day in and day out diligently for 26 years to provide for his children and would give anyone the shirt off his back if they needed it. Bought me my first car and my brother his, traditions mattered to him, this was a man who found joy in providing for the ones he loved. A true artist, an entrepreneur who could build a mansion from two sticks and a hammer. He may have fussed a bit, smoked one too many cigs and cursed a ton, but he was loved for who he was by everyone he met. This loss has been DEVASTATING. If it wasn't for my dad, @badgurlgoodies would not be where it is today. He supported my business every which way - from telling his friends to shipping out pallets, he was always there.
