The best advice I have for training in your 40’s…. Treat your recovery as a requirement , not a suggestion.
I believe we can train hard into any decade however, if you want to continue to do so without pain or injury caring for your body has to be a part of your program .
.
Here are a few simple things I do to keep my body healthy, mobile and pain free :
1. Prioritize sleep. As a mother of a toddler this isn’t always easy but it’s the most powerful recovery tool we have .
.
2. Work on mobility … ALL THE TIME. Stiffness creates imbalances which over time leads to injury. Beginning or ending a hard training session with a quick roll out will pay dividends in the long run.
.
3. Use modalities like cold plunge, compression therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care and massage to keep body supple, reduce inflammation and in alignment.
.
Age is just a number when it comes to what our bodies are capable of as long as we care for it along the way. .
.
