Had a wonderful afternoon chatting with the team from ECU’s ‘Follow the Leader’ Podcast, about my journey from a music student at WAAPA to my appointment of Head of Orchestral Studies and Conducting. Recorded late last year at ECU’s WAAPA Broadcasting studios. Celebrating International Arts Education Week! Grateful to all the orchestras who have given me the opportunity to share my love for arts education with their audiences, as well as the inspiring staff and students I work alongside at @waapa.ecu to foster the next generation of artists. #conductor#artseducation#investinartseducation@waapaclassicalmusic
Heartfelt thanks to the musicians from the Opera Australia Orchestra for their collaboration and artistry over the past few weeks. Every time I stand on the podium I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead these seasons and make music with you all!
It was also an absolute privilege to conduct the final performances for two musicians with the orchestra on Saturday. Virginia Blunt joined OA as a violinist in 1987, and Allan Watson on percussion in 1985.
What a thrill it was to be able to celebrate you both in the final bows on stage at the Opera House on Saturday, honouring your incredible contribution to music at OA over the decades! #conductor#operaaustraliaorchestra#sydneyoperahouse
An absolute thrill making my debut with The Australian Ballet last night at the Sydney Opera House for their double bill season of Etudes + Circle Electric.
Heartfelt thanks to the entire company who have made me feel so welcome this week - the incredible dancers, ballet and music staff, crew, @stephlake and Jonny Eliasen and especially @officialdavidhallberg and @jlo_conductor for your trust and invitation.
And as always, the musicians from the Opera Australia Orchestra - who in just a few short days, brought a world premiere score by Robin Fox @foxalot to life alongside an iconic 1948 work inspired by Czerny. Two extremely contrasting scores performed with stellar musicianship and flair - forever grateful.
Here’s to a wonderful season celebrating this stunning art form together!
