TV casting news. Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid's Tale) and Natascha McElhone (Halo) will play the titular character Sherlock's father and mother, Silas and Cordelia, in Guy Ritchie's Prime Video series adaptation Young Sherlock, the website Deadline reports. Starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin (who is Fiennes' real-life nephew), Young Sherlock centers around "the 19-year-old, disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed genius, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University that threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever," per Deadline. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, who starred together on the hit Fox drama Prison Break, are reuniting to star in Snatchback, a hostage drama in development at Universal Television, the website Variety reports. "Inspired by the life of a real covert intelligence officer who is still active in the field today," Snatchback "follows a highly skilled privately contracted team of operatives as they recover hostages across the globe from some of the most exotic, and equally dangerous locations on the planet," per the official synopsis. Scott Rosenberg (The Shield) will serve as writer and executive producer. No network is attached yet. TV news. HBO, in association with Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, has given an eight-episode, straight-to-series order to the live-action Green Lantern series written by Damon Lindelof and Eisner Award winner Tom King. Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland. TV premiere date news. Paramount+ have shared the first trailer for the seventh and final season of SEAL Team. Filmed in Los Angeles and on location in Colombia, SEAL Team's swan song will premiere Sunday, August 11 with two episodes, followed by weekly releases. The military drama's final season will run 10 episodes, bringing its grand total to 102. David Boreanaz (as Jason Hayes), Neil Brown Jr. (Ray Perry), AJ Buckley (Sonny Quinn) and Toni Trucks (Lisa Davis) are all confirmed to be returning as series regulars, as is Season 6 addition Raffi Barsoumian (as Omar Hamza). TV casting news. As Disney+'s Andor series winds down its two-season build-up to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, expect to see yet another familiar face from the 2016 Star Wars film. As part of as-yet-unpublished interview with The Playlist, Alonso Ruizpalacios - who directed the last three episodes of Andor Season 2 - apparently let slip that he worked on the Star Wars TV series with heavyweight actors like "Stellan Skarsgard, Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn." Skarsgard of course starred in Andor Season 1 as Resistance operative Luthen Rael, while Whitaker in a pair of episodes reprised his Rogue One role of Saw Gerrera. Mendelson's apparent encore, though, is new news. In Rogue One, he played Imperial Director Orson Krennic, an Imperial bigwig who compelled Galen Erso into completing work on the OG Death Star. A prequel to Rogue One, Andor in its first season followed the titular Cassian (played by Rogue One's Diego Luna) as his murder of two "corpo" guards led him to meet Luthen Rael (Skarsgard), a key member in the budding Resistance movement. Cassian helped with the heist of Imperial payroll, but even after escaping, wound up imprisoned. Followed a white-knuckle jailbreak, Cass made his way home to the planet Ferrix in time for his mother's funeral, and managed to elude capture by the many factions hunting him. As Season 1 came to close, he joined Luthen aboard his Fondor craft, ready to assist the Resistance further. The seven-episode psychological thriller Disclaimer starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, with Alfonso Cuaron serving as writer and director, will debut Friday, October 11 on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes, the website TVLine has learned. The remaining episodes will air weekly on Fridays until the November 15 finale. Blanchett stars as celebrated journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, who gained fame by revealing the sins of others. But "when she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets," per the official synopsis. Kline, who starred in The Big Chill and In & Out and won an Oscar for A Fish Called Wanda, co-stars as the novelist.
