Croatia, day 4: The Abandoned Military Tower Mission.
We woke on a nice hot day in a new marina we'd arrived at the night before. Everything was super chill and we were planning our mission to the abandoned military tower for later in the day when it was less hot. We were all super excited as we had a whole plan to fire spin at the top and get some really cool drone footage too. This was gonna be a good day.
And then I got heat stroke.
Headache, stomach ache, shivers, feeling crazy hot, sitting on the back of the boat, one foot in the water, wearing a wet shirt and constantly re-wetting it, constantly pouring cool water from the sea over me, constantly drinking water, wanting to go in the sea because that would really cool me down but not wanting to risk swimming given it's quite deep, there was a noticeable current, and the stomach ache and headache were quite debilitating.
The sun starts setting. This is the time we were supposed to leave on the mission. Everyone is super understanding but it's a really frustrating situation. Half an hour of this goes by. No change. An hour, no change. Hour and a half, no change.
Then suddenly out of nowhere after 2 hours of this I feel suddenly 100% percent better. All the symptoms are gone.
Let's go...
We walk up the hill through this picturesque little town at golden hour. There are cats and grapevines and old rusted structures, sun-worn wooden beams, doorways, arches. Everything has a rustic beauty to it. We get to the top of the hill and walk along the crest of the hill towards the military tower. Through winding paths, surrounded by interesting plants and trees. And then suddenly; spiders everywhere. All over the bushes, big webs, the spiders weren't small 😄, loads of them too, also above us, spiders above us in webbed archways here and there above the path for about 20m or so. Trying to spot them before we walk into them, pointing them out to each other "Watch that one! That one's massive! There's another one there too!"
Not long after we made it out of the spider gauntlet we saw a cool looking tall ruined building ahead of us on the hill; the military tower; we'd made it!
