About three years ago I got a call from
@ninedotarts about painting a mural at a “new hotel” that was opening in Savannah. I was thrilled. I felt fresh into the swing of painting murals and to get that call felt wild. I didn’t know who what or where the job was. But regardless, “sign me up!”. As time passed, a lot changed. I hired my stellar homie to be my mural assistant, and soon we were dreaming scheming and painting our way all around the world. JULU murals changed a lot during those years, but I’d like to think of it as JULU growing up. Throughout my creative career, some of the best situations I’ve found myself in have truly been because of the input and ideas of friends. My first big installation at SCAD was through a brainstorm session with
@eliza.bhg . My first mural was the idea of
@modbirdcreative . Even my brand name JULU was through a family members suggestion. My family and friends are brilliant. Hiring a mural assistant over these past years hasn’t only made the job more fun, but it’s just another example of a friend (
@ryhouch ) pouring creativity into the pot for us all to enjoy. Where would I be without my people. So cheers to this moment. A moment when the curtains are hung, the furniture placed, and the first poolside cocktail is enjoyed, we can proudly say “dang, it’s real good”. I feel constantly showered with blessings by this creative journey, and the people that have been a part of it. This mural struck a chord, and now I truly feel like we are ready to JULU the moon.
