Happy Juneteenth, Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, Emancipation Day! Juneteenth in Oklahoma reminds us of an iconic Eastsider Ralph Ellison and his book Juneteenth. Ellison attended Juneteenth celebrations as a boy in Oklahoma. He writes about Juneteenth celebrations of his childhood, where a minister reminds Black folk of their history saying, “On this great day of deliverance, on this day of emancipation, lets us tell our story.” Thank you for celebrating Juneteenth with Juneteenth On The East.
