This warthog is trying to scratch an itch! They do this to either relieve itches often caused by insects or parasites. Scratching can help them remove ticks and other parasites. Warthogs might also rub against trees to help shed their fur or manage the growth of new fur during certain seasons. These behaviours are common and an important part of their daily routine out in the wild. 📷: @st.gunn #mykapama #mykapamamatters #safari #nature #natgeowild #warthog #conservation #wildlife #wildlifephotography #sustainabletourism

Since hippos lack sweat glands, they risk rapid dehydration and overheating when out of water in hot weather. Consequently, they spend most of the day submerged in water, venturing out only on cooler, overcast days or at night. This was a unique sighting captured by Southern Camp guide St.John Gunn of a hippo resting on the river bank. 📷: @st.gunn #mykapama #mykapamamatter #safari #nature #hippo #wildlife #wildlifefacts #photography #conservation

"We left Buffalo Camp, Kapama's small luxury tented Camp, for our morning game drive with a family of six. After driving around and enjoying various sightings, we decided to stop for a morning bush coffee break, a highlight for guests. Just as we were ready to continue the drive, one of my guests spotted a male lion walking on the western side of the dam. We jumped on the game vehicle to follow the lion, tracking some female lions sleeping nearby. Soon after following the male, we came upon the females. We spent considerable time with the lions, allowing our guests to thoroughly enjoy the experience. When we returned to the lodge, our guests were still talking excitedly about the sighting and shared the experience with everyone in camp". Buffalo Camp Guide - Sipho

In the busy journey of life, as we move forward we often forget to pause. Every now and then, it’s important to stop and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Sometimes, all it takes is for one to pause and admire our surroundings, and when we take time to be still in the moment, soon others will follow and stop with us. It’s a reminder that in our collective journey, we should never forget to take a moment to look around and embrace the wonders of the world. 📷: @rassiejacobs ##mykapamamatters #mykapama #kapamariverlodge #beauty #wildlifephotography #nature #wildlife #natgeowild

Did you know, most of a giraffe's water intake comes from all the plants they eat. Giraffes only need to drink once every few days. It's still wonderful to watch how they awkwardly widen their front legs and bend down to reach the ground for a drink of water. 📷 : @markvolker83 #mykapama #mykapamamatters #safari #wildlife #nature #safari #conservation #giraffe
