I think birthdays are great measuring points in your life to stop, take a step back and evaluate your happiness. I like to reflect on the changes I’ve made in myself over the last year and just take a second to honor where I am today and the woman I’ve become. It’s cool to think that today I am my past self’s creation and experiences. That being said, I’m so grateful for all of the obstacles I’ve faced and people who have come in and out of my life because every piece of the puzzle had purpose.
As a wise 32 year old 👵🏼, one life tip I would give would be to be intentional about your happiness. That might look like playing my favorite song right when I wake up in the morning, going on walks outside every day to connect with nature, or buying a big white background on Amazon to teach @kiara.smartt how to take pictures of me, so I can have cute photos to show my kids how good their mom looked at 32 one day ;) Here’s to accomplishing even more in 2024!

It’s official!! My book is finally out on Amazon!!!! So today I had a pop-up at a big market I was really excited for. Then last minute they changed the location to a corner in deep Ellum 😭 but I stayed positive and was still hoping for a good turnout. There wasn’t a lot of traffic but one guy showed a lot of interest. As he was reading my flyer about my story, he shared that he was adopted too so it really resonated with him. At the end of the conversation he asked if he could keep it. Assuming he was talking about my flyer he was holding, I said “Of course! That’s why I made them! 😃” He then puts the flyer back and grabs the sharpie that was keeping the flyers from blowing away and says, “Wow thank you! I am a sharpie fanatic!!” 😂😑
Sharing this because being an entrepreneur might seem really cool from the outside but it’s not always what you think. Today I only sold 4 items and I just had to wipe bird poop off my tent 🥴
On the other side, there’s also something really empowering about following your passions and representing something you built and created. It forces you to believe in your vision even when the man who walked away with my sharpie instead of my flyer doesn’t 😭 lol but I truly believe when you decide to just be you and do what you want to do in life the stars will always align eventually.
So here’s to all of the entrepreneurs out there hustling and grinding and following their dreams! Don’t give up and honor your hard work that no one else sees. And if you are in that place where you want to start your own business but you’re nervous or your fear of failure is stopping you, just know that there are wins and losses but the most rewarding part is believing in yourself and getting to say that you didn’t spend your life thinking “One day I’ll do it.”
