Got my first curly haircut and I am never going back! 🙊💜
Growing up, I always loved going to the hairdresser because I knew it would mean that I would leave with pin-straight hair. From such a young age, I equated straight hair with beauty. There were days in elementary school that I literally faked being sick because I didn’t like the way my curly hair looked that day. I owe it to Little Kiana to embrace my curls. I want to change the narrative that straight hair means a more “professional” look. I also want to change the narrative that leading ladies must have blown-out hair. Straight hair is beautiful and curly hair is beautiful! I thank God for how He made each one of us unique and I pray for continued courage to be natural. My steps were spontaneously guided into this current adventure and I am eternally grateful. I’ve been in Montana working on a film that presented itself very last minute. When I got the call, my first impulse was to stay in my comfort zone and decline; I knew this role would require a lot of me mentally, spiritually, and physically. Thankfully, Lovell was beside me and whispered “you can do this” and the energy of anxiety led its way into excitement and a resounding YES. And oh man, I am glad I said yes. There truly is magic on the other side of your comfort zone. This has been a beautiful experience. I cannot wait to share this story with you all. The definition of a labour of love. As I sit here and write this, I am still in shock at this news. The sudden passing of Chance has hit me so hard, I can’t quite grasp the reality of it. It doesn’t make sense how a person with SO much life and joy and exuberance can be gone from this planet without a warning. But this is true to human life, and as I reflect on who Chance was and how he lived, I am inspired and in awe.
I think I can speak for anyone who had the honour of meeting Chance. He truly lit up every single room he entered with his smile, his genuine and caring eyes, and his love for pranks and cracking jokes. From the moment I met him he made me feel safe, seen, and heard. His presence was warm and his love was abundant. As an artist, Chance was a firecracker. Improv King. A dream actor to work alongside. A wonderful friend, son, and brother.
Chance is LIGHT personified and my favourite thing about light is that it has no boundaries. It seeps through cracks and finds its way into dark corners. I feel it in my soul that Chance’s spirit is now even more abundant and free than it was when contained in a human body. Chance is eternal and I find so much comfort knowing that he is resting in peace, alongside our Creator. I am praying for his family and friends during this transitional season and sending healing energy and love to every one who is feeling this physical loss. We love you, Chance Perdomo 💜🦋✨🙏🏽
