I finally got my copies! Thank you DMV friends for collecting them. I’m going to archive a few and then frame one for my parents. This is everything I hoped for in the first iteration of the 270 Million Project. I want the Lao diaspora and perspective to take up more space,from a Lao person too not just a white ally. Regardless, I know so many people will flip through this page and still not notice or read it. That’s why I’m continuing to look for spaces to show this work while actively creating it. This work will be continually changing its look every single time a painting is bought and the space it takes up changes. In that sense I feel like it’s alive, still transforming—just like the issue in Laos with these left over bombs. I’m launching a Creative Lao American Artists Zine! 8 artists from different creative practices will be interviewed to talk about their practice and processing of identity. I’ve always thought being Lao American is an interesting experience because we are all in the hands of the country that bombed us but somehow have to navigate being this hyphenated identity while being suppressed by the government that brought us here. Sounds familiar, huh? Fundraising will support the artists and printing the zine. Inspired by @vagabondzine and @vanguard.zine , I hope this project encourages other creatives in different diasporas to share their experiences and stories in their own projects. We are more connected than divided! . Phew 😮‍💨 it was a hot two days of markets ☀️ This weekend I wanted to donate 50% of my profits to gofundmes for Sudan, Congo and Palestine. Thankfully I made $20 USD per fundraiser but I know they all need more and more people need help. Every dollar helps. Please consider donating to any of these links in my bio.
