I recently was asked to photograph an art exhibition cocurated by one of my besties. The exhibition was called UNKNOWN and was incredibly inspiring. All the art on show was created by folks in recovery through a series of classes that culminated in this beautiful display of creativity, openness, new beginnings, closure, and compassion. Everything from photography, sculpture, fashion, food, video, and huge puppets was included (even interactive donuts!!)! My sis @bombazeen was the dj, and my dear heart Vinnie (@dharmahawk ) was curator/master of ceremonies/ hostess with the mostest. It felt so warm and so exciting. Just getting to be at an art show where everyone wasn't sloshed on free wine felt like a first kiss. Congrats to everyone on your beautiful art and on your badass sobriety! And yes, I was asked, and I will be teaching a portrait photography class for the next round. Guess who's photography is the 1st thing you see when you arrive in The Pines from the ferry?? MINE! 1 800 ON HER OWN the WORLD PREMIERE!! Honored and (red) floored to be asked to document the world premiere of 1 800 On Her Own, @anidifranco_ !!re!!_039;s documentary currently screening as part of the @tribecafilmfestival ! Directed by @danaannflor , the film is touching, funny, insightful, raw, and important. This was my first red carpet photo project, and as nervous as I felt, I think I killed it. Saw a lot of friends on there, like my @righteousbabe muses @gracieandrachel and @jocelynmcknz , Ani band mates @houseofandy , @jujuwolf_ , & @jmercer67 reunited, some extra special guests like @whereismuna_ !!re!!_039;s @katiegavs and actress @amberrosetamblyn and of course all the talented film crew and creators. Thanks for having me in my pink suit and turquoise brows, adding a little queer color to the other side of the rope. AND thanks for doing more than step and repeating when ya got to me.. cause photography should have emotion and motion and memory. The Little Folksinger Takes New York @anidifranco by @krysfoxphoto NYC June 2024 Join us tonight for an incredible evening as we attend the screening of 1-800-ON-HER-OWN, a documentary about #AniDiFranco that has its debut as part of the Tribeca Film Festival! Ani will be performing after the film, and I'll be there with her to capture all the magic before, during, and afters. Come say hi- I'll be in a very pink suit. These shots were done last week as we climbed scary ladders and hung off very tall buildings. As folks like Ani and I tend to do.. Happy Birthday to the Greatest Love I've ever known. My partner, my best friend, my astonishing love, @matty_glitterati . Almost 5 years together and it is just as butterfly exciting as day one. Every moment with you is so warm and joyful. You are the greatest man I've ever known and you make me the happiest ive ever been.
