Yall. I got the masters back for this bad boy yesterday and let me tell you, @devin.powersmusic knocked it out of the park!! It is so lush and yummy and I am so extremely proud of his skills and my production and songwriting .
The adventures of the last two years of bravely traveling into the unknown of my own life from Denver to Mexico to Puerto Rico to St Thomas, deeper into my music and my Spirit, have changed me. This album is a testament to that growth and a testament to understanding where my music comes from inside me.
To my island friends, I am releasing this album as part of an immersive art experience for my last show that will also be on May 30th. What does an immersive art experience mean? It means we will be transforming Roots Garden Lounge into a magical world full of storytelling, dance, fire, blessings, and a live performance of this album. It is FREE so Please put the album release in your calendar and bring all the homies. . You will not want to miss this show!!

Long ago,the indigenous cultures of the Caribbean, would perform their rituals and ceremonies dressed like birds. They did this because they believed birds had the power of flight and the power of song. They would dress in elaborate bird costumes and they would travel from island to island performing their songs for each other like a tour. Song was used to get the attention of the Universe and its celestial beings before they could pray. Song was a beacon. Thrown into the sky through sound and vibration, asking for help through respect, gratitude and beauty.
Three weeks ago today, we came together as a community to celebrate and create ASCENSION: An Immersive Art Experience. What most of you don’t know, is that this wasn’t just a show to us. It was a ceremony disguised as art. A ritual to send song and dance into the Universe to call the ancient energies down to help heal us. It was potent. Everyone involved knew of this intention. We blessed the space together. We built the art together. We built this altar together. A beautiful eye gazing into the heavens so They knew where to look. We made eye contact. I sang out to the heavens and then we danced in ceremony as soo many have before us.
Today is my birthday. I have spent the last two years “bravely traveling” deeply within my own mind while also navigating a very real unknown and uncertain path. It brought me to this island. It brought me to this community. It gave me visions of art and creation. I heard its song. And We answered. I realized in all of this that putting on my astronaut suit is just me putting on modern bird costume, creating ceremony and ritual disguised as art to call into the heavens with song so we can pray.
Let there be hope. Be the light.
