Being a border child in El Paso, Texas I grew up watching The Johnny Canales Show so it was a huge blessing to later play him in the
@selenanetflix series.
For us Mex American people of the border,
He was us on screen.
He spoke Spanish, English and SPANGLISH like us.
He laughed like us.
He joked like us.
He brought our culture and music to the entire southwest US, Mexico tv audiences and eventually 23 countries. He bridged cultures through music.
JOHNNY, you were truly a great one.
You created a platform and a space for Tejano artists where none existed.
