A slow reel for a slow time in my life.
I’ve been resting and recovering after some severe burnout which unfortunately led to me getting really sick. (First time I have been sick in about 6 years or so - I almost never get sick!) And it totally kicked my ass. Finally getting back on my feet and got myself back in the studio today :)

Many months of work culminating in 61 sheets of paper with paint on them! These illustrations represent over 50 species of fungi (and more!). Without a doubt the largest illustration project I have ever taken on. What a wild, wonderful ride! Barring any last minute revisions, it’s time for sleep now. 💤

Was halfway considering retiring this design, but they remain really popular - which I certainly cannot complain about. My old block got so worn out I had to carve up a new one - so these are printed with the brand new block and are extra fresh and crispy! ✨🐈🌵

For an erotic botany series I am working on in between gaps in a bigger project. I am using this opportunity to test out different watercolor papers for the “big project” to find the one I want to use - and this is paper number 2. Not super thrilled with it to be honest, even though the painting turned out alright - I had to fight the paper a bit more than I liked... It’s “Canson cold press Montval” withholding final judgement until I’ve tested one more paper. I already tested arches hot press watercolor paper (see: boogie cactus from earlier reel) and it was pretty nice although maybe a bit flimsy (I’m a paper abuser). Which raunchy plant or fungi should I paint next!?!?
