A huge thank you from Lifeline Australia CEO Colin Seery to The Push-Up Challenge 2024 participants supporting Lifeline. By pushing for better mental health awareness and suicide prevention, together we have raised vital funds to ensure we can continue to provide crucial moments of connection to any person in Australia, anytime, anywhere. Funds raised through The Push-Up Challenge enable us to answer more calls, texts and online-chat conversations via our 24-hour crisis support services, recruit and train more digital volunteers and continue to expand our suicide prevention support programs and awareness. Thank you to this year’s Push-Up Challenge participants and those who have generously supported their efforts. https://bit.ly/3XpvPGU

In this Holding on to Hope episode, we are joined by Grace. Grace’s journey, marked by the challenges of mental health, began with suicidal thoughts that emerged in childhood. Diagnosed with depression and anxiety during her teenage years, Grace's journey has been a testament to perseverance in the face of adversity. As a queer woman with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), she emphasises the intersectionality of mental health, advocating for a multifaceted understanding of its impact on life. Her story is not just one of survival but of resilience, empowerment, and the unwavering belief in a brighter tomorrow. Join us as we delve into Grace’s journey, link in bio.

Meet our Friday Fundraiser, Michaela - a five-time Push-Up Challenge champion! Michaela is completing 3,249 push-ups this month to raise funds and support Lifeline's crisis support and suicide prevention services. She's pushing for better mental health in honour of her uncle, who she tragically lost to suicide in 2010. "I don't want anyone else to feel the pain that my uncle must have been feeling, or to feel the pain that me and my family went through after his death." Michaela says that for her, it’s not just about the physical challenge. Every push up she completes is a tribute to her uncle, and every life lost to suicide. Funds raised through The Push-Up Challenge will enable Lifeline to continue providing 24/7 crisis support services to prevent suicide and save lives. A man you care about may not feel like he can open up to someone close. And in Australia, three in four people who take their own lives are men. Donate today to help Lifeline be there for men who are struggling to talk. https://bit.ly/3wLjx0x

In Australia, three in four people who take their own life are men. A big issue is that many men feel they can’t talk about their struggles, even with people they know. Please donate today to help them talk to Lifeline. https://bit.ly/4ar8Pdn

Meet Will. When Will left home in Melbourne and started working in regional towns as an electrician, he found himself weighed down with worries. Far away from his friends and family, Will felt isolated and overwhelmed. “At the forefront of my brain, were thoughts of taking my own life.” he says. Thankfully, Will called Lifeline. We need your help to make sure more people know that they can reach out to us – instead of shouldering their burdens alone. Sadly, of every 10 requests for help received by Lifeline, only four come from men. And the consequences of bottling up emotions can be heart-breaking. Every day, nine Australians take their own life. On average, seven of those are men. Suicide is so unbelievably tragic, but it can be prevented. Please give today, so more people know that Lifeline is there to talk to, when it feels like they ‘can’t talk about it’. Thanks to you, men like Will could speak about the emotions that weigh so heavily – before the burden becomes unbearable. https://bit.ly/3ytnho0
