Honoring #WorldTheatreDay , the legend, 1 of my best professors who recently passed.
Tom Bradac: the reason I know & love Shakespeare. A phenomenal teacher, a kind, brilliant, funny, stoic soul. I directed my 1st 1-act play under his tutelage. Shaping my directing on every project since.
His counsel transcended academia. I still share the best advice I received from him.
“Don’t go straight into grad school or only let yourself act when you graduate. Live in another country. Get your heart broken. Work a job that has nothing to do with the arts. Go live your life or else you’ll have nothing to inspire your art.”
I remembered this every time I faced a crossroads in my career. The odd jobs that wouldn’tve happened if my narrow-minded thinking “What does this have to do with my artistic career?” had won.
I led a group of students in South Africa, I did sales at a corporate company & led seminars, I worked at a daycare, my life has been full of beautiful surprises/adventures.
Wouldn’t have written 2 pilots & 1 screenplay without those experiences. Stories I’ve been ongoingly developing that I’m about to begin pitching to sell.
It’s such a trip to think about.
I see many of my accomplishments/experiences as a testament to his legacy.

I lived my life, allowing it to inspire my art in a way I never could have imagined.
Beyond grateful.
Disappointments, worries, they fueled the stories I created.
Thank you for the reminder that life is holistic & to live is inspiration enough to fill our artistic wells.
My 1st acting gig straight outta college I was cast as Hero in “Much Ado About Nothing.”
I felt confident & ready to tackle the role cause Tom had prepared me.
His spirit was within the character I crafted.

….time I had fun & got lost in the beauty of its ancient, sacred text, alive & free, connected to something greater than myself
…I thought of him.

Happy World Theater Day!
Acting, directing, choreographing, producing, teaching, watching, and supporting theatre has been such a huge, fulfilling, person-making part of my life. There's nothing like laughing, crying, and toe-tapping along with the audience member next to you, or with your cast- mate turned life-long-friend. Singing, dancing, existing. It's all part of the human experience.💕

This spring, “Date With Death” will have its 60th production.
At that time, this play will have been performed in 25 different states and 9 different countries.
It’s pretty surreal. I remember writing this play and feeling surprisingly good about it. I thought it’d get produced...maybe a couple times if things broke my way. This play’s reception is beyond anything I could have imagined.
A huge thank you to all the directors, the Angela’s, the Karen’s, and David’s. I am incredibly grateful for all of you. 🙏

Very happy to be one of the directors in this year's Pick of the Vine @littlefishtheatre . These 7 fantastic plays are fun, different, challenging, and beautiful acted. I got to direct 2 of them and have been having an incredible time with the cast, fellow directors, and creative team.
