Over the past few years, prepping sweet @aleahdean135 for competing in @missinteenusa has been a dream. She is always so fun to teach fitness walk to with her bubbly little personality! 2 years ago, I stepped into the pageant world blindly, becoming the first African American to represent Ohio in 17 years to placing 3rd runner up at Miss USA. I had no clue what was to come from all this although, I do believe everything in life is a building block. I never thought I’d fall back in love with pageants, but coaching beautiful women inside and out, has truly been the most rewarding.
This year alone, I’ve had the privilege of preparing 10 beautiful ladies for their state pageants, in interview and stage presence. Of course, everyone wants to win but the biggest win for me has been seeing the transformation in women, from day one of coaching to game day.
Pageantry is truly bigger than the glitz and the glam, it really allows women to dive deeper into who she is as a person, to learn more about herself and her capabilities.
Being back in Portsmouth this past weekend, I could only think of the tremendous amount of growth that the title Miss Ohio USA 22 had given me, looking back I’m not the same person I used to be, and for that I am forever grateful. But I’m even more grateful to be able to witness women stepping into their true potential, it’s far more than a crown, it’s bigger than a state title, it’s the personal growth, service and the sisterhood that’s connected to it all.
Thank you to all the beautiful ladies that have allowed me to be apart of their journey this year!
