🚨 STORY TIME 🚨
Plant the Garden is FINALLY out 6/25 🥹🌻
This song is about clinging to the things that harm us. I first wrote it about a relationship going sour, but as it evolved over the years I started to marvel at the ways that toxic relationships between people mirror the relationships we have with ourselves, our elected officials, and on a broader scale how dysfunction and power imbalances map onto imperialism and global injustice.
The same way we know the basic ingredients to grow a garden (sunlight, nutrients, oxygen, space to grow, water…), we intuitively know how to nourish each other and the planet. But we’re socialized to turn our backs on ourselves (and our communities) at every turn—through fabricated beauty standards, gender norms, militarism, and sooo many other constructs at every level of society.
We cling on to these things feeling like they make us safer and more secure when really they obscure us from embracing our whole selves….
Anyway, humans are beautiful the planet is beautiful. Tend to your garden. Be yourself and love each other with all you’ve got and pre-save Plant the Garden.
Xoxoxo, ron
