For centuries, Ukrainian cities have had to defend their identity and true history, particularly against attempts to Russify their inhabitants and create artificial myths about cities’ origins. Language and spelling have always been important components of such an identity. Unfortunately, a significant number of international media and organizations still use the names of Ukrainian cities in incorrect transliteration, imposed by the old policy of Russification. So, of course, it’s not Kiev, but Kyiv. And it's also not Kharkov, but the one and only Kharkiv. Not Chernigov, but our Chernihiv. Not Lugansk, but the Ukrainian and future de-occupied Luhansk 🇺🇦 And not only those cities. Spread the practice of using the names of Ukrainian cities in international spelling according to Ukrainian tradition and pronunciation among your foreign friends. Let’s fight Russian propaganda and disinformation together 🤝🏻

Russia’s war against Ukraine indeed involves hybrid warfare, especially in how Russia manipulates language and terms. Disinformation and propaganda have a greater possibility of spreading if we speak with its words. Thus, the way we phrase things is extremely crucial. ➡️ Wording does matter — swipe the cards to learn why.

They have different stories. They had different lives before the injury. Russia took away their past lives in various ways. Yet, they all are learning to live anew. Russia’s war against Ukraine, unfortunately, hurts both Ukrainian defenders and civilians. If their path could be described in one word, it would undoubtedly be "resilience". They survived the injury of Russia's completely unprovoked and unjust aggression, followed by the long road to rehabilitation. Swipe through the cards to read some of the stories of invincible Ukrainians – from the young to the elderly – people whom Russia has left with painful scars, but who did not give up ➡️

💬 “If we allow Russia to succeed in Ukraine, this will be a world of chaos and interstate conflicts possibly leading to a catastrophic global conflict. If successful in Ukraine, Russia will undoubtedly proceed with aggression against other countries in Europe. At the same time, Russia’s allies, North Korea and Iran, will feel emboldened to challenge stability in other parts of the world. The earlier free nations and their leaders realize this, the sooner effective collective action will be taken to reduce these threats.” — 🇺🇦 Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at The Economist panel discussion “Spiralling through the conflicts: in search of opportunities”.

On July 3, Russia attacked Dnipro, again targeting civilians. As of 2 pm, at least 5 people were killed and another 34 injured, including a child. Ukraine needs enhanced air defense, particularly modern air defense systems, to intercept more of Russia’s missiles and drones and to protect our highest value – the lives of our people. #ArmUkraineNow

Дякуємо за підтримку @RegBerlin та #SportmetropoleBerlin — A fragment of the destroyed grandstand from Kharkiv’s Sonyachny Stadium has been brought to Berlin. Ukrainian Ambassador, Oleksii Makeiev, together with the @uafukraine , shared the stand’s story with the Bundestag’s President, Bärbel Bas @bundestagspraesidentin and the deputies. Sonyachny Stadium, the main training ground for the Ukrainian national team, was destroyed by a russian missiles in 2022. Today, it is present in the Berlin fan zone near the Reichstag as a symbol of how even Ukrainian football suffers from war. In total, more than 500 sports facilities in Ukraine have been destroyed or damaged by russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Thank you for your support, @RegBerlin and #SportmetropoleBerlin

Every Ukrainian field shelled by Russia means lost harvest, lost bread, and lost opportunities to help countries in need. Recently, Russia shelled a field in the Kharkiv region. As a result of the strike, 110 hectares of the field caught fire. Ukrainian rescuers extinguished the fire, but it is impossible to recover the lost harvest. This is yet not the first time Russia has tried to destroy Ukraine's agriculture even before it is harvested, risking entire fields to fire. Russia's impunity to impose its barbaric agenda not only threatens Ukraine's food security but that of the entire world. Ukraine must have everything necessary to protect agriculture and fields. #ArmUkraineNow 📷 Photo: @dsns_ukraine

June in Ukraine: a month of excitement on one day and heartbreaking grief on one another. Last month, Ukrainians experienced some bright moments to cherish, such as starting EU accession talks and following EURO 2024 football matches. At the same time, this month was really tough, as we still mourn the victims of Russia’s recent attacks – in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions… This is Ukrainians’ reality: controversial, multi-emotional, and altogether different. However, this should not become a normal experience – Ukrainian defenders must be equipped well enough to protect what is most valuable – human life. #ArmUkraineNow . Do not let the darkest photos ever repeat.

The total duration of air alerts in Kharkiv, specifically 468 hours, is equivalent to 19.5 days – almost the entire month. Due to the city’s proximity to the border with Russia, residents experience alerts that sometimes last for several hours or even an entire day, living under the constant threat of Russia’s shelling. In June, Russia also attacked the city 22 times – using both aerial bombs and missiles. Six people were killed, and 92 more were injured. Kharkiv needs enhanced defence against Russia’s attacks, particularly from air attacks that take the lives of its residents. #ArmUkraineNow

Russia is once again imposing its genocidal policy against Ukrainians – not sparing even children. Vilniansk in the Zaporizhzhia region was attacked with Russia’s missiles. As of 9:30 pm, at least 23 people were injured. 7 people were killed, including 2 kids. Ukraine‘s air defense must be enhanced. For the sake of saving people’s lives. #ArmUkraineNow

On the last Saturday of June, the UK celebrates Armed Forces Day to remember the men and women who have served or are serving in the military. The British take this day quite seriously, knowing that protecting freedom is an extremely challenging and important job. That’s why they also actively support Ukrainians who are showing this in action right now. And we are very grateful for that.
