From being an orphan from Sierra Leone, getting adopted at the age of 4, moving to the United States of America, where I have been living in multiple places on the East Coast, to moving abroad to The Netherlands by myself at the age of 18, before making my way back to the United States a few years ago, and now being based in Boston…
I wouldn’t be who I am today, nor where I am today, if it wasn’t for the love of my biological mother, my teacher Sarah at the orphanage, and Magali Messac - who is the ballerina who gave me hope when I didn’t think I had any. These three women are my Maxine.
This reel is inspired by a new documentary, now streaming on
@PrimeVideo , called “Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story.” And watching this documentary made me cherish all of these things, all over again.
Creating this reel made me smile and proud of the woman I am today, and I encourage you to make one yourself using the template!
Share who you are, what defines you, and who the “Maxine” is in your life.
