✨ Miss Missouri USA - one for the books! ✨❤️ My first ever pageant came with a few simple goals: representing your age does not define you, your weight may fluctuate but your self worth does not and kindness is worth everything in this ever changing world. To stay true, genuine and to not compare myself to others (that one was hard). To connect with new people. To complete a goal I put on hold 10 years ago. And to represent my second home of New Zealand including my intro video, contestant program page and entwining elements of Polynesian aspects into my wardrobe - including hand stitching silver ferns onto my formal gown. 🌺🌿 Truly, to just embrace everything this weekend had to offer. I also was not after the title or to even place! The amount of attention doesn’t work for me in this chapter of my life and I accept that. Being in everyone's cheer section brought me a lot more joy. To be selected for ‘The Spirit Award’ was so special. A win is a win! Everyone has different ways to measure winning. For me, being truest to myself and being recognized for it, even in a small way means everything at my first ever time competing on stage. Thank you so much to the other beautiful women from across Missouri, they were nothing but welcoming. Before pageantry, I did have a narrow mindset that it would be nothing but closed minded self-absorbed women. But I couldn’t have been further from the truth. These women brought so much individuality to the table, with amazing portfolios across the industry board - which I love for them. I can’t wait to see where their journeys take them! Also another MASSIVE thank you to @vanbrosgirls and the directors, Karen and her family, Jennifer the MC, and our amazing selfless volunteers for their dedication to pageantry. As I’m sure most who follow pageantry news, the Miss USA organisation is facing issues at the mothership in ways that go against my values but Vanbros still is a shining example of what integrity and respect looks like in pageantry. Congratulations to @ashleighlorene becoming @missmousa - looking forward to seeing what you have in store during your reign. Enjoy every moment - I’m sure the year flies by! ❤
