Fashion shows are to designers, what a playoff game is to football and basketball coaches. The models are the players. I ALWAYS valued my models. I appreciate their gifts and talents. It’s not easy and many work on their craft months at a time for a 30 second presentation. I’m proud to say, I have given many models their very first opportunity, including many white, Latin, Asian, African, gay, trans and even those with disabilities have modeled for me. I have always been inclusive and operate with love for everyone. I realize that many are living their dreams doing so, just as I am.
But here are a few suggestions to up and coming models:
1. Have great quality pics that display you at your best. I HATE when people dm me to model, and don’t even send a pic or have their page on private. I’m NO LONGER responding to people that aren’t prepared.
2. Identify brands that best complement your body type. Every model IS NOT for every type of clothing. If you are a full figure model, there are brands that will enable you to be successful and others in which do not fit you. Extremely muscular guys don’t fit my clothes well.
3. When you audition, SELL THE CLOTHES! Too often models want to sell themselves. The purpose of fashion shows is to allow people to see the clothes in the best light. Keep it simple and stay away from the magic tricks and excessive posing.
4. Don’t let a “No” from me or any other designer to disease you from your dreams. Try and try again.
Hope this helps. DO NOT SEND ME ANY MODELING REQUEST! I get them everyday, but I will post when I need models. I don’t have a system to save your info, unless you have modeled for me before.
I will post a lineup of my up and coming shows next week. I will
@also tell you how to apply. I won’t respond to dm request for modeling, UNTIL I post a model call, because it’s too many and I don’t have the time.
God bless and see you on the runway!!!
