Jungle Fantasy part 2…I was sad to be alone, the year before I had traveled with a lover, and this year I was on my own. I realized how lucky I was to be in a place I thought I could only visit in dreams and embraced my solitude. Being creative used to be a very solitary practice for me and sometimes it still is. I used to sketch and drape my designs when I was alone. At night I lay in bed with my eyes closed listening to music in my headphones and fantasize about stories I want to tell and the visuals that would accompany them. For months I listened to Lata Mangeshkar on repeat, dreaming of India, which turned into a manifestation as most of my new collection is being made in Mumbai and I will be visiting this year. Learning to find people I can trust with my vision has been a big part of my journey, in doing so my manifestations have continued to come true. I’d been wanting to shoot with Kali @102yla for months and by pure coincidence she happens to live 2 hours away from our shoot location. All of the pieces came together in harmony. Every campaign has been a visceral experience that has shaped me into a more improved version of myself. The theme of my life lately has been radical acceptance and optimism. So many things go wrong in life, but how we choose to deal with our problems sets the tone for our reality. We missed our flight for the shoot, but we kept cool and caught the next one. Kali’s car broke down, but we kept calm and her dad drove 2 hours to fix it. Countless obstacles came our way and rather than panic or react negatively I embraced them and looked towards the future with hope and the solutions present themselves like magic. I am surrounded by guardians and angels that are helping me make my way in life. The next time something goes wrong stay calm and positive, you might find the solution will come to you or appear before your eyes. Surround yourself with people who understand you and learn to trust them, they are also your guardians/angels. Thank you to everyone who has supported the collection, it was our biggest launch of the year so far, I’m so grateful about this one and so excited for the what’s next. 🪷
I think I started to dream up the Jungle collection in January of 2023. I spent that New Year holiday in Bahia, the north eastern part of Brasil with a sweet guy I met in Rio. It was my first time visiting without my mom and I felt like I was able to truly immerse myself into the culture. We stayed in a beautiful tree house in Trancoso, surrounded by a lush jungle a few steps away from the sea. My skin was sticky and tanned as we hiked through the humid overgrown jungle trails until we reached waterfalls with ice cold spring water that we swam and played like children in. Every morning I would wake up to a new tropical flower he picked for me left on his pillow. It was one of the most romantic trips of my life…the colors and textures remain imprinted in my mind, the sparkling green of the leaves after it rained, the rich dark brown of the wood of our lovers treehouse, the pale yellows, deep reds and soft pinks of the tropical flowers and the crystal colored sunsets over the sea. This January I spent the holidays solo on an island called Koh Rong in Cambodia. It was bittersweet, I had always dreamed of visiting South East Asia, I’m enamored by its cultures and natural beauty but I was sad to be alone until I realized…to be continued. “Jungle Story, available at 5pm today.
Inspired by the green beaded skirt from Collection III, I decided to make a pink version. I styled it on Kali with a dupatta and beaded bag that Daniela left at the office. Limited quantities available, each skirt is hand beaded in India. Available for order Wednesday at 5PM♡
