March 13, 1913, the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., marched in the historic women’s suffrage parade two months after founding. Seven years later in 1920, women were ALLOWED to vote.
Fast forward 100 years, the fight for social justice continues. And so does the fight to cast a ballot in so many places. So make a 2020 plan. 📝
✏️Get registered. There’s still time in some states.
📍Check your registration and polling location.
📲Request your absentee ballot. There’s still time in some states for that too.
📚Research your candidates in local elections.
🕒Vote early in person if you’re able. Pack snacks, chargers, chairs, masks, hand sanitizer.
📩Check your absentee ballot to make sure it’s yours and not mislabeled, and you have the correct district ballot.
🖊Follow all instructions for signatures and sealing.
📮Find and use an official local ballot drop box.
📬If you’re mailing it, send it early. Some states don’t require postage even if the envelope has a spot for a stamp.
💻Check your state Secretary of State to make sure it’s been received.
