Meet our Founder and President, Niomi Ndirangu. Niomi is a survivor of Epilepsy who now spends her time outside of work and college advocating for people living with Epilepsy, successfully training over 4,000 individuals in Seizure First Aid, as well as working on a National level to pass the Seizure Safe School Act. She has experience in holding leadership roles, as she is the current Miss Kansas Teen Volunteer, and has held various different leadership positions throughout the years! Her motivation of starting Seize Your Future is her personal experience with Epilepsy! As Niomi grew up in a single parent household she only had her mother to help her as she suffered the difficulties of having Epilepsy in a school environment. As her Epilepsy progressed her education became more difficult. She struggled to understand the concepts being taught as well as facing bullying from her peers because of her Epilepsy. Even then, that never stopped her from working towards getting an education. Bringing a dream to reality, Seize Your Future was created. Niomi’s mission is to educate the future by providing scholarships to highschool and college students living with Epilepsy.
“Day in the Life” Epilepsy Journal Fundraiser!
I am asking for YOUR commitment and help raising $250 to supply over 50 people struggling with mental health and epilepsy with my “Day in the Life” Epilepsy Journal.
This Journal was designed to encourage people with mental health and epilepsy to share their stories and no longer live in fear. It helps them learn to work through lifelong challenges and discover ways to improve their mental health while coming to terms with their Epilepsy. Self-confidence, mental clarity, and motivation are key elements developed while dissecting this journal.
As a survivor of epilepsy and mental health I want to inspire those with Epilepsy to take a break from the world and use their OWN voice, thoughts, and opinions to share their story. As well as to provide challenges that encourage others to break the stigma that Epilepsy defines a person’s life.
