Control The Stretch This is the Hamstring portion of today’s Back/Ham session, the two movements of choice 1. RDL 2. Lying curl. I’ve always been quad dominant, it’s been a lot harder for me to grow the hamstrings over the years but one thing that has helped a lot is controlling the eccentric or stretching part of hamstring movements. Of course we need good contractions to build any muscle, but we can’t underestimate loading a muscle and elongating time under tension while it is stretching to a lengthen position. Full Chest Day Workout 👇 1. Pec dec - 3x12-15 2. Incline press - 2x10-12 3. Decline machine - 2x10 4. Flat machine - 2x10 5. Cable x over - 3x12 Tried out the new Atlantis decline @puremuscleandfitness today for the first time and it was GOOD. Love the safety peddle that allows you to get the weight in position without tearing your rotator cuffs off. Also switched out the usual smith machine for a flat machine press and that was also really good. High Volume Back/Ham workout 👇 1. Standing curl - 2x12 2. RDL - 2x12 3. Seated curl - 2x10-12 4. Single arm pulldown - 2x10-12 5. Machine row - 2x10-12 6. Neutral grip cable row - 2x12 Every second week we switch out a full leg day for back/hams to give both of those weak points for some extra attention. This is easily my favourite training day of the week, the transition from hamstrings into back is always super easy, this workout flows well! LEG DAY TRAINING TIP 👇 Drop the ego on leg extensions. This is not an exercise you want to be going super heavy on and trying to hit “PRs” week to week. We want to use the leg exercise to prepare our legs for heavy squats and leg presses by warming up our knees and quads. This way when we get into the compound movements we have established a mind muscle connection with our quads and therefore we will get much more out of these movements that are adding SLABS of 🥩 to our legs! Full Back Day Workout 👇 1. Single arm lat pulldown - 2x12 2. Tbar row - 2x10-12 3. Low row machine - 2x10 4. Wide grip cable row - 2x10-12 5. Shrug row - 3x12 First day of the new 5 day split! Changed it up a little with the Watson pulldown to start followed by the Watson tbar row, the tbar row is nice because the handles swivel so you don’t need to maintain a super pronated grip 👌. Hit the upper back hard at the tail end of session with the wide grip cable row for mid/upper back and the shrug row to isolate the traps. First physique update in awhile. Been on TRT for over 8 weeks now and I’ve been able to hold 330lbs morning weight pretty easily. It’s the first time I’ve been able to do that so that tells me this muscle has finally matured.
