American Modern Ensemble Last night we had our first AME concert for MMF season 5!🌟💫⭐️

We are thrilled to be hosting THREE orchestra concerts this June for our 5th season of MMF! These will feature incredible conductors David Amado (June 9th), Ankush Kumar Bahl (June 15th), and JoAnn Falletta (June 21st) for our season finale! We have some great classics programmed for you, such as Copland's Appalachian Spring, Lutoslwaski's Concerto for Orchestra, and Debussy's La Mer. Our #MMF2023 concerto competition winners, Ian McEdwards and Trevor Hund, will be featured in the June 9 and 15 concerts. The American Modern Ensemble plays "Summer Classic" by David John Roche [@yourbestfrienddave ]

Today we're thrilled to feature MMF composer David John Roche! David has participated in both the USA and Netherlands festivals, coming all the way from Wales. Here are some fantastic words from David and advice for those attending MMF for the first time: "The world is a big place. The UK can feel pretty certain and solid in its musical beliefs but, you go somewhere else, and you can see a different (perhaps more open) type of engagement with music - it's legitimately invigorating. Talk to everyone, take the time to socialise, be kind, and write as much as possible. Also make sure you follow up on and stay in contact with the people you meet - that's really important." Aside from Mostly Modern, David is doing lots of exciting musical projects: "I've just finished an electric guitar concerto for Grammy-nominated guitarist Sean Shibe. It was performed in London by Britten Sinfonia and toured through Wales by Sinfonia Cymru. I'm currently working on my first symphony length orchestral piece for CERDDWN, where I'm also Composition Lead. This work is being funded by Aberystwyth University, Tŷ Cerdd, and Arts Council Wales - I can't wait to hear it, the orchestras sound amazing. Other than that, my Tanglewood Music Center Commission for 7 double basses THOUSANDTH HYMNAL received two performances in the US in April and I'm working on commissions for Jeremy Huw Williams and the International Guitar Foundation. I'm also actively trying to find a way to write a Christmas piece and more guitar concerti (both full orchestra) - hit me up!
