Edwin was the first actor on that set to introduce himself. He answered every question. He calmed any concerns. He helped me figure where to go, who to ask, what the fuck to do!! He always greeted me with a big hug. Never made me feel like I wasn't supposed to be there. I enjoyed every moment I was given to be in Edwin's company. He technically, at least from my point of view, was my acting coach. I love Chris Storer. For whatever insane reason, he allowed me to tag along(within reason) on his journey. He dropped me in the middle of his world and allowed(obviously didn't have the time to hold my hand) me to figure it out on my own. I'll always love him for a myriad of reasons, this being one of them. I'll forever be indebted to Edwin. His time, his patience dealing with my incessant questions, constant worries about "getting it right". I've had the great honor and pleasure of meeting random people from all over this world, daily! This is my little guy Malcolm Evans. I referred to him as my little guy because he's been in my life since he was about 9yrs old. He just won an important award for the important work that he does. He's one of the major players in the Urban Growers Movement here in Chicago. He's been farming since he was 8 or 9. Their main goal is to provide vegetables to areas in this city known as "food deserts". It also provides people with a sense of purpose. Malcolm comes from a rough upbringing. He dodged death. Seriously dodged it. He honestly shouldn't be here with us but I'm grateful that he is. He's never let that affect him or his goals. He's been dreaming big since I met him and he's continued time and time again to reach those dreams. It's been and will continue to be an honor to watch this kid's accomplishments from my passenger side view of his incredible life. I love you Malcolm "OneTimeJohnson" Evans-Zucchero. The big guy is on the Wall Of Fame at Mr. Beef. Right as you walk in, you turn your head right, and BOOM!! His beautiful mug is right there in all of its glory, prestige, and Canadian beauty!! One of the last things I said to Steve was that I had bought a shirt with his face on it!! He begrudgingly told me "That's cute!!" Steve was a secret hero of mine!! He did the music business on his terms. He didn't compromise. Long live your suspicion, long live your convictions, and long live the music you produced and the music you played!!! A true artist!!! A true outlier of authenticity in a world of contrived, manufactured redundancy!! You shined through and through!!! A true piece of Chicago musical history and just Chicago history that man was and will continue to be for centuries to come!!! Rest easy my man!!!
Congrats on my little Cuz Zach graduating to become an official C.P.A. Zach as teenager fought tirelessly with his parents to work at Mr. Beef while he was in high school. Finally my old man said "Fuck it! Once you graduate, you can come down. Zach was always an A student but his parent's(one of them being my mother's brother) were concerned about him driving in from Muenster, IN but my father guaranteed he'd be fine and that would start Zach's formation into Mr. Beef. For the last 6 to 7yrs I've watched Zack go from a teenager to a young adult to somebody focused on his purpose in life. It was quite amazing to see such a trajectory considering at his age I had a difficult time just trying to tie my shoes and I had everything afforded to me. Zack always loved my father and watching Zack upset at my father's funeral was probably one of the roughest part of that day for me. That's because my father adored Zack! It was his godchild, his nephew, he was named Zachary because that was my father's middle name and he was like another son. Now Zach will be doing them taxes and still slinging beefs on Saturdays. Uncle Joe would've been just as proud, if not more than I am of you cuz!! He loved you cuz!! I love ya cuz!! Congrats!!!
