20 years ago I stepped on the Minnesota USA stage for the first time and ten years ago I stepped on it for what I thought would be my last time…… until now! In 13 days I will be stepping back on the Minnesota USA stage making history as not only one of the oldest contestants but one of few that are married!
I firmly believe that in order to create change we must first show up, and that’s what I’m doing for every woman that has been told that her marital status or age defines her beauty, abilities or simply defines her.
No longer are the days where a woman is “just” a wife or mother or her age makes her less than. I will step on that stage and shatter that glass ceiling that has hung above us for far too long. I am married, I am a step mother, I am closer to forty than thirty and I am a competitor coming for the USA stage.
