Journey through history with magic mushrooms! 🍄
Magic mushrooms have a rich and fascinating history, woven into the fabric of our ancient cultures and traditions.
Their role in ceremonial use and folklore twangs a significant chord in human history:
Ancient Rituals: Indigenous peoples across the globe, from the Aztecs in Mesoamerica to Siberian shamans, have used magic mushrooms for spiritual ceremonies and healing rituals.
Sacred Symbols: Often referred to as "teonanácatl" by the Aztecs, meaning "flesh of the gods," these mushrooms were believed to connect humans with the divine.
Cultural Artifacts: Cave paintings and artifacts from prehistoric times depict mushrooms, indicating their long-standing importance in human history.
Magic mushrooms have transcended time, continuing to be a source of curiosity, healing, and spiritual exploration. 🌍💫

As of 2005 and the ammendment of the 1971 misuse of drugs act, mushrooms containing psilocin or 'magic mushrooms' were reclassified as Class A drugs. Meaning since 2005 it's been illegal to import, export, produce, supply or possess magic mushrooms in any form... It is however, completely legal to possess the spores of magic mushrooms, simply because they don't contain psilocin! Spores can be purchased legally for the purpose of being viewed under a microscope🤓..they can also be stored until such time that magic mushrooms may be made legal again! 😅

So excited to receive our first mushroom blocks from @jurassiccoastmushrooms !
We have been given oysters and lions mane to experiment with. Hopefully they will start fruiting in the next 10 days or so and end up on our guests plates straight after!
Stay tuned for the results!
Mushrooms have a good sense of humor. They not only make you see the absurdity of our everyday reality but can also bring out your playful inner child. While 🍄trips can be dark, they can also be full of giggle fits—and there are many laughs to be had about mushrooms, even while sober.
Not everything has to be serious; take a minute to laugh and look at the assortment of mushroom memes the internet has compiled about these amazing and amusing fungi.

Care package from @jurassiccoastmushrooms - not only a syringe of Pioppino Mushroom (posh name: cyclocybe aegerita) liquid culture, but some solid slap game - and a COOL little clip/shoelace clip (I'm not sure, but i love it; @mushymentor will have to confirm the identity 😆) - thank you so much!
Plan with this is going to use the entire syringe in one go. I'll put half into some honey broth to expand the culture. A quarter I will use to inoculate an all in one bag (I think I have one kicking around) and the final quarter is going to go into Uncle Ben's rice
I'm also going to inoculate some uncle bens rice with my C. Gambosa culture and see how that goes... and I will be sending a syringe of that back to @jurassiccoastmushrooms to play with. That is, I expect, going to need more of the Fungafam experimenting on how to grow it successfully!
Been busy so haven't had a chance to get to all this today - but soon; watch this space!

Shout out to @onlyginjaninja for spotting this whopper of a wild mushroom, in Dorset.
This is Cerioporous squamosus, or more commonly a Dryad's Saddle. We received the tip off and had to go take a look!
It was unfortunately too far gone for us to get a viable sample, there were more fungal gnats and maggots than mushroom flesh, on the inside! 😅
Fortunately they regularly fruit again in the same location, every year, until the nutrients are depleted. Given how large this Ash tree was, this mushroom should be appearing for many seasons to come. They have a wonderful fresh cucumber, some say almost water melon smell to them and when fried and a little crispy, they're 🤌
With genetics like this, we'll definitely be back here again, to catch a younger fruiting body 🍄❤️
