Join Darren Le Baron for a two-day Shroomshop Pro course covering both basics and more advanced practices of mushroom cultivation. Unlock the potential for producing your own food and medicine as well as meeting like-minded cultivators.
The course will cover:
Basic and advanced mushroom cultivation
Making your own spore prints
Making your own spore syringes
Making your own mycelium spawn
Working with grain and wood substrates
How to increase your yields
How to make liquid mycelium and spore slurries
Experimenting with various bulk growing techniques
Also joining us is Max Mudie (@allthingsfungi ) known for his incredible photography and one of the organisers of All Things Fungi Festival. His talk “Mindfulness in the micro world” will delve into the world of fungi and myxomycetes (slime molds).
MycoPunks will also be providing a guided tour of our facilities and answering any questions about day to day processes including producing grain and substrate at scale.
All attendees will get a goodie bag with everything you need to put your new-found knowledge into practice and some gifts from our friends and sponsors at Cotswold Mushrooms (@cotswoldmushrooms ) and Orangutan Trading Co (@itsorangutantradingco ).
Early bird ticketholders will get a limited edition print poster for the event designed by Punk Ross (@punkross ) and a £5 gift card to spend in our shop.
Looking forward to seeing you guys!
“But you said you hate all in one kits!”
I said I hate everyone else’s all in one kits ✌🏻😜
Seriously though, we’ve been messing with this kit for ages now and I think we have something really decent.
Let us know how it goes using the test kitchen feedback sticker?
Cheers x
For the second year running. Introducing our main stage sponsors. Mycopunks.
A huge thanks for their support, trust and belief in All Things Fungi Festival. 🍄🫶
Eternally grateful 🙏 Show some love for the two Chris’s and the team @mycopunks#allthingsfungifestival
We are off to the races, with @mycopunks , Fungafam!
This is going to be an interesting comparison. Both of these processes started at the same time on 16 Mar 2024, but which overall is best? That is the question
The main comparison of interest is speed.
In the first photo we can see a bag of CVG. This was mixed together with grain, that had been inoculated with Flammulina Velutipes liquid culture, once the grain had been fully colonised (and I did a break and shake of the grain bag at 20% colonisation to speed this up). Clearly, to mix in the grain I had to open the bags and pour the grain into the bag of CVG.
The 2nd and 3rd photo are of a test all in one bag; grain and substrate all premixed together. This was inoculated directly. I did a break and shake at 20% colonisation to speed up colonisation. No need to open the bag.
At the moment, the all in one bag is ahead for speed. It was slower to start BUT it had fewer steps than the comparator. Importantly, too, it had the bonus that it was a direct inoculation with liquid culture; I did not need to open the bag - and that's a lower contamination risk. If overall it is faster AND with a lower contamination risk, that's pretty cool - and likely will guide my own homemade bags in the future. So I'm really interested to see how it all works out
All this stuff is from @mycopunks , and obtained at the same time, so we also limit any bias introduced by different suppliers (e.g. differing process standards) or differences in terms of how long items have taken to move from production to shipping. A good comparison indeed
Which one do you want to win, Fungafam?
