As a kid I knew every word to One Way Ticket (Because I Can). It was my guiding light for the future I wanted. I was probably seven when I started dreaming of west bound trains, climbing mountains, and talking to someone I don’t know (and maybe the day I’d get to drink champagne). Part of that dream was to one day be surrounded by people like me. I never thought those people would one day be in the back of a gator where my four wheelers used to grind gears and wear ruts into the side of the dams. I never thought I’d be baking (or planting) pumpkins with friends from distant lands. Luncheons hosted using recipes by local friends and transferware from Brooklyn flea markets marry together with jon boats and chatter of the lives we live.
