Happy International Day of Forests! Did you know that the type of forest surrounding Natural Bridge has some of the highest biodiversity of any forests in the world? The Appalachian Mixed Mesophytic Forest (the type we have) can have as many as 30 different tree species at any give site, and sports a lush undergrowth, rich with herbaceous plants, fungi, mosses, and ferns. #naturalbridge #kystateparks #explorekentucky #intlforestday #kentucky #forest
