Thank you @aijaportfolio for including me in your documentary film project “Saint Marks - The Interviews” alongside other notable Saint Marks Place residents including @adacalhoun author of “Saint Marks Is Dead - The Many Lives of Americas Hippest Street.” It’s sometimes hard to say it’s a pleasure to serve on this block, the same one my grandfather was born on almost 100 years ago, with its grit and grime and noise all the time. But Saint Marks has its magic, and it can definitely still be found. Just walk up the spiral stairs to @newvibeyoga

Malsanana into Bakasana. Malasana is of my favorite postures within the New Vibe sequence, and always feels the most maternal when sustaining. Like the grounding meet between the part of me that ushers life and the soil that holds me up. I typically experience an internal sensation within the first breath and feel so quietly focused that my pace of breath slows naturally. Malasana increases blood flow in the pelvic region, enhances lower body balance and reduces anxiety amongst a slew of other wonderful benifits. Here i’m unassisted by props but if your heels rise when deepening the squat, placing a block underneath your bottom or a blanket underneath your heels may be helpful. As a teacher it is one of my greatest honors to not only lead a room eager to learn, but to learn from leading. Which postures in your sequence brings you right home? Class #100 at @newvibeyoga . I really didn’t expect that I’d get this far. I started yoga in July in the hopes that it would help me with some minor back issues. I did not expect to love it this much. Ashtanga Vinyasa is a really wonderful form of yoga that helps me grow over time. The team at New Vibe Yoga is amazing and helps me improve every week. I have learned so much but I have so much farther to go. Thanks to @alexschatzberg for his amazing studio and guidance. And much thanks to @angeliqbrock , @eden_a19 , @katyaguseva and @carmen.bedoyae for such wonderful lessons.
