I decided to re-do an old challenge painting for this one (from 2000-2001, I think). I don't know what the reference was for this trout, I think it is? It's funny that we don't realise how our skill has improved until we do things like this. I enjoyed doing this one but can't wait to see everyone else's interpretation!
Paint: serenity, abyss, mitra,uruz (old), eldarion, bardolino, juniper moss, granite, ashes, charcoal, ghrian, greed.

Therapy....
What's your therapy? I could have worse jobs, I guess, but then I could earn a good living! Making paint and painting with my own paints is my therapy.
This batch is for the last 2 layers on the current batch of Yavanna, which is on pre order in the shop. This and Limone are a beautiful pairing!

THIS is calligraphy. It's not cursive, every day handwriting. It is a slow process of movement and shapes, giving consistent looking angles and forms.

Welcome to July's bird, the Lapwing, for #nibsbirdpaintalong !
The British population of a Lapwing is 96,500 but rises to 620,000 with winter visitors! It's a larger bird than I thought it would be, with a length of 28-31 cms (that's a foot! - surprising).
It's a very distinctive bird with its long, swept back crest that whips about in the wind - curiously not noticeable in flight though as it lays flat. The male develops more black on the face and blue on the breast when breeding. It also gives tumbling displays of ariel acrobatics in the air with a piercing 'peewit' cry, giving it the common name of Peewit!
The Lapwing is a ground nesting bird on farmland and grassland. The female and juveniles are both very similar to males.
I really hope you enjoy this bird, and I really look forward to seeing everybody's pieces.
From this month, I will be announcing a bird on the 1st and the 15th of the month but don't feel any pressure to do both - I'm just happy to see everyone joining in to support others. I know, I know... the link is tenuous, BUT in my defence, I want to demonstrate how far we can reach with the prompts. It DOESNT MATTER how far away the link is. It DOESNT MATTER how much artistic licence you apply. What matters is taking part and putting brush, pen, pencil, whatever is your medium, to paper!
Did I want to paint ice? Absolutely not! I considered a woolley mammoth from the ice age for goodness sakes. Make life as easy or as hard as you like!

So, as slightly more people were happy with the July bird post today - here it is. The gorgeous Lapwing! I'm not posting my piece just yet, as there's a lot going on at the moment, so a little breathing space is needed! You can use any refetence you wish, these are just to demonstrate the bird itself.

Week 3 #boatswithp - I really enjoyed this one, but it was a fatal mistake made when ripples go in different directions! Doh!
