A little exercise for hard days (in recovery, or in general) 🫶🏼

If it’s never consumed you, it probably won’t make sense. If it has/is; just want you to know you have purpose in life & it isn’t to spend it worrying about all of this 24/7. Caring about your physical health is just as important as your mental health = slow down, have fun, take it all in, make memories & enjoy all the little things in life too 🌸🌈✨

It’s joy, connection, comfort, tradition, celebration + fun too. Children so beautifully demonstrate how intuitive it used to be for us to eat, move, and accept ourselves without judgement. Healing your relationship with food + your body isn’t a learning process, it’s about UNlearning — all of the unhelpful food rules, guilt, and body beliefs; so you can return to yourself 🤍

That pursuit actualised as a disordered relationship with food, exercise + my body, and upon slowing down, I gained BACK my health — mentally + physically. I gained other coping mechanisms when life felt stressful; I got my period back and was able to fall pregnant naturally; I was finally capable of going about my day peacefully, focussing on things other than food/exercise; I stopped living to punish my body; and my quality of life improved drastically. ⁣ ⁣ Hope this serves as a little reminder that your health is holistic — nurturing your social, spiritual, mental + emotional wellbeing are equally as valuable as working out, and you were made for more than a life dedicated to shrinking your body 🩷

Turning a banana into a delish + balanced snack, we love 💕⁣ ⁣⁣ To make — split banana in half on a plate, add yoghurt mixed with protein powder (+ dash of milk), top with crushed nuts, chocolate chips, coconut, honey and/or whatever else your heart desires :)⁣ ⁣ ⁣Protein is @onedown_health choc fudge flavour — feel free to use nicky10 for a discount if you ever want to try xx

Removing the metrics of calories burned, number of steps, macros eaten, overthinking, compensating etc etc not only allows space for you to focus on how your body feels; but soooo much more mental capacity to actually be present in your every day life. I cannot even begin to tell you how peaceful and worth it that is 🤍

Life lately.. navigating motherhood with two, rebuilding strength postpartum, baking from scratch, embracing change, and focussing on progress over perfection in all aspects. Grateful for this season 🤍

Now how can you extend that same compassion to your adult self? 💭♥️

The freedom inside my head that was previously dedicated to calorie counting + diet is second to none.⁣ ⁣ Gentle reminder that abiding by arbitrary food rules robs us of our ability to truly listen to our bodies + eat intuitively; it creates food obsession, and causes a lot of unnecessary stress. You have purpose in life, and it isn’t to spend it worrying so much about food 🩷⁣

Idk who needs to hear this but movement doesn’t have to be perfect, it all counts and hosts benefits to your body + mind that have nothing to do with aesthetics. It is not a moral obligation and you deserve to enjoy it, intuitively, the end xx
